Banophool Adibashi Green Heart College on Thursday honoured Ven Prajnananda Mahathera, who was recently inaugurated as the fifth Sangharaj of the Parbatya Bhikkhu Sangha Bangladesh (PBSB).
The reception took place on the college’s green courtyard. Rector Professor Tarun Kanti Barua presided over the event. The programme began with recitations from various religious scriptures and a collective rendition of the national anthem.
College demonstrator Samia Akhter Lamiya greeted the new Sangharaj with flowers. Teachers and students jointly performed the Rabindra Sangeet “Aguner Parashamoni Chhoao Prane.”
College Principal Dr Sanjoy Kumar Dhar welcomed guests at the ceremony. Teacher representative Mustakiya Mahmuda Parvin delivered the welcome speech. Kaler Kantho special correspondent Shariful Alam Sumon attended as guest of honour.
Teacher representative Md Zakidul Islam, writer and journalist Shah Bulbul, and Daily Times of Bangladesh representative Razu Ahmed were present as special guests.
Senior Assistant Teacher Tahmina presented the event. Assistant Professor Abdul Haye Majumder oversaw overall coordination.
