Children’s robotics team TARAR BARI has won the Gold Medal at the Fibonacci International Robot & STEM Olympiad 2026 – Bangladesh National Round for its innovative Mars exploration project, “Mars Odyssey”, highlighting the growing interest in robotics and technology innovation among young learners in Bangladesh.
The day-long Olympiad was held on 4 September 2026 at the United International University (UIU) campus in Dhaka, with nearly 1,000 students from schools, colleges and universities across the country participating, said a press release.
The TARAR BARI team received the top award for its Mars Odyssey project, a robotics concept based on a Mars rover designed for planetary exploration. The project demonstrates the use of robotic technology for exploration, data collection and scientific operations in challenging environments, earning recognition for its innovative approach, technical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
The chief guest at the event was Nurul Haque Nur, MP, State Minister for the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. He said technology is driving the modern world and that robotics and artificial intelligence are among the most promising fields for the future, encouraging young people to pursue science, technology and innovation.
The event was attended by Masum Khan, Editor of Times Today and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Institute of Journalism and Electronic Media; Alexandra A Khlevnoy, Director of Russian House; Sharmin Nahar Lina, Sub-Editor of Ambassador Magazine and Country Manager of Business America Magazine; Md Abdur Rahman, Founder and Managing Director of Bondi Pathshala and Founder & CEO of Gearon; Muhammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury, Head of Sales at BSRAIM Steels Limited; Fairoz Khaled Ahi, Founder and CEO of ACS Future School; along with academics, technologists and other distinguished guests.
Parents attending the event said they hoped the achievement of the TARAR BARI team would inspire children and young people across Bangladesh to pursue innovation in robotics, STEM and space science.
