The instruction applies to designated cattle markets under Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur city corporations. The circular includes a list of 26 designated cattle markets, though several other markets across these city corporations were not selected for the service.

According to the directive, banks will operate nearby branches and sub-branches from 24 May until the day before Eid. These outlets will remain open from 10:00am to 10:00pm under special arrangements while continuing normal banking services.

The move comes as large numbers of buyers and traders are expected at cattle markets, where significant cash transactions take place. The central bank said the arrangement is designed to ensure safe, convenient and seamless financial services during the festive period.

Banks have also been instructed to set up temporary booths at cattle markets at their discretion, subject to adequate security arrangements. These booths will provide services including cash deposits, withdrawals and account opening. The central bank further advised banks to provide special allowances to employees assigned additional duties during this period.
