Banglalink has launched free access to IMO for its customers from 3 March to 5 March in response to the ongoing tensions and security uncertainties in parts of the Middle East.
The initiative aims to help customers stay connected with their loved ones in the region, where a large Bangladeshi expatriate community lives and works, contributing significantly to both their host countries and Bangladesh’s economy, the mobile operator said in a press release.
Recent developments in parts of the Middle East have heightened concern among families at home, including many Banglalink customers awaiting reassurance about the safety and well-being of their relatives abroad.
Under the offer, customers will be able to make voice and video calls through IMO without incurring additional data charges during the campaign period, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder essential communication.
Customers can activate the free IMO access by dialling *121*555# once within the offer window, the company said.
Banglalink Chief Marketing Officer Kazi Mahboob Hassan said the operator’s responsibility extends beyond providing network services.
“As a digital operator committed to a people-first approach rooted in care, we remain focused on delivering meaningful support to our customers during critical times. By ensuring seamless communication, we aim to ease the concerns of families and reinforce the human dimension of connectivity,” he said.
Banglalink, a fully owned subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed VEON, positions itself as a leading digital operator offering a range of services, including the telco-agnostic super-app MyBL, entertainment platform Toffee and AI-powered digital lifestyle package RYZE.
