The Bangladesh Canada Association of Calgary hosted a special iftar gathering for Bangladeshi students at the Craig Hall of the University of Calgary.

The event brought together more than 400 students, community leaders, and representatives from various Bangladeshi organisations, according to a press release.

Distinguished attendees included Iqbal Rahman, president of the Bangladesh Canada Association of Calgary; Asif Hossain, general secretary; Md Taibur Rahman, president of the Bangladeshi Student Association; and Aimon Nawar Chowdhury, president of the Bengali Student Society.

Former president of the Bangladesh Canada Association of Calgary Md Rashid Ripon, and several notable members of the Calgary community also participated in the event.

Before the Iftar, the gathering welcomed newly arrived international students, introducing them to the local community and the newly elected committee members of the associations.

The presidents and general secretaries of the participating organisations during their speech stressed the importance of unity within the Bangladeshi diaspora.

They called for collective efforts to uphold Bangladesh’s positive image abroad and foster stronger ties within the community.

The event aimed to strengthen the bond between Calgary’s local Bangladeshi community and international students.

Organizers emphasised the opportunity to share the spiritual significance of Ramadan and promote a message of brotherhood and solidarity during this holy month.
