The Bangladesh Army’s Khagrachhari Region has initiated a mother tongue introduction and alphabet education programme for ethnic minority groups at Khagrachhari Cantonment Public School and College.
Brigadier General KM Obaidul Haque, region commander of 203 Infantry Brigade and chairman (governing body) of Khagrachari Cantonment Public School and College, inaugurated Chakma, Marma, and Tripura language education clubs as the chief guest.
The inauguration ceremony took place at 11am on Monday in the college auditorium.
The event was attended by teachers, students, parents, local dignitaries, and representatives from various media outlets.
During the session, speakers highlighted that this initiative would play a vital role in the preservation and practice of the mother tongues of the Chakma, Marma, and Tripura communities.
They noted that the programme aims to inspire interest in indigenous languages and cultures among the younger generation.
They expressed optimism that these language education clubs will be effective in promoting multilingual education, mutual harmony, and the preservation of cultural diversity within the region.
At the conclusion of the event, the chief guest wished for the overall success of the language clubs’ activities and extended his sincere gratitude to all those involved in the initiative.
