Apu Biswas is making a strong effort to stage a comeback, signing on with Abdun Noor Shajal for the new film ‘Durbar’, directed by Kamrul Hasan Fuad.
The murder-mystery thriller, which includes elements of romance and drama, is written by Abdullah Zahir Babu and also stars Jannatul Noor Moon and Sanju John. Filming is set to begin on December 16, with a formal photoshoot planned for December 14.
Kamrul Hasan Fuad said, “It’s a murder mystery thriller with romance. I have chosen a story that appeals to both theatre audiences and OTT viewers. Pre-production is underway, and rehearsals are ongoing. If all goes well, shooting will start on December 16.”
On pairing Shajal and Apu Biswas, he explained, “I have made many fictions and advertisements so far. Shajal Bhai was the hero of my first fiction. I wanted to make my first film with him. Since the film is intended for the cinema, another performer was needed. From that perspective, Apu Di is perfect. After I shared the story with her, she liked it.”
Durbar will be shot in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Nepal and will feature three songs performed by Imran Mahmudul, Kona and Belal Khan. If all goes as planned, the film is scheduled for release on Eid-ul-Fitr next year.
Fuad also announced ‘Deyal’ with Prarthana Fardin Dighi last year and ‘Desh’ with Nirob earlier this year. He will complete shooting for both films after finishing Durbar.
Meanwhile, Shajal has recently completed shooting for Rasheda Akhter Lazuk’s Shapla Shaluq, with the songs still pending. If completed on schedule, this film could also release on Eid-ul-Fitr.
Apu Biswas will also appear in another film called ‘Secret’, directed by Bandhan Biswas, co-starring Ador Azad.
