An Ansar member named Jenarul was caught while attempting to leave the import cargo complex of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) with at least 15 mobile phones.

The incident took place at Gate 8 of the airport on Thursday afternoon. During a search, officials recovered stolen phones hidden inside his boots, pants and shirt.

An official of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, which oversees cargo operations, confirmed the information.

The authorities said legal procedures are underway against the accused Jenarul.

A security personnel of Biman Bangladesh Airlines said the detained Jenarul was responsible for security at the airport’s import cargo complex. When he was leaving through the hangar gate, his movement appeared unusual.

Later, a search led to the recovery of numerous mobile phones concealed inside his boots and pants.

He said, “It is assumed his other associates were waiting outside. He would take the mobile phones out and hand them over to associate.”
