‘Ali’, featuring actor Irfan Sajjad, is set to premiere on the streaming platform Bongo following its theatrical release. Bongo confirmed that the movie will be available online the day after Eid-ul-Fitr. The film originally hit cinemas on July 18 last year.
Ali centres on the story of a man with autism and his sister, exploring their emotional bond and the challenges they face. Irfan Sajjad portrays the titular character, a speech-impaired man who communicates entirely through sign language.
To prepare for the role, Sajjad took a four-month break from other professional commitments to train intensively and accurately convey his character’s experiences.
The narrative follows Roshni, a young woman aspiring to study in Dhaka and gain independence. Her brother Ali is protective and wary of the dangers of city life. After a tragic accident separates the siblings, Ali embarks on a harrowing journey of survival, facing hardship, isolation and injustice, while Roshni continues to search for him, hoping for his return.
The film also stars Protigga as Roshni, alongside Tashdik Nomira Ahmed, Misha Sawdagor, Kazi Hayat, Shatabdi Wadud and Shaukat Sajal.
Ali is directed by Biplob Hayder, who previously worked with Sajjad on ‘Vhoyal’, the actor’s 2024 return to the big screen.
