In a moment that blurs the line between sporting spectacle and real-world endurance, US-based wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) wrestler Darby Allin has reportedly etched his name into a unique chapter of history by becoming the first-ever world champion in professional wrestling to have also conquered Mount Everest.
The championship bout, built over weeks of promos and escalating tension, centred on a contrast of styles. MJF (Maxwell Jacob Friedman), the self-proclaimed generational talent, relied on arrogance and tactical control. Allin, meanwhile, embodied resilience and was cast as the underdog in his hometown of Washington. He absorbed early punishment as MJF targeted his vulnerabilities with calculated precision, attempting to outthink him psychologically as much as physically.
Earlier that night, chaos unfolded when MJF arrived late and attempted to avoid defending his title, citing injury and threatening legal action. Allin confronted him with an emotional promo before Bryan Danielson announced the match would headline the show, warning MJF he would be stripped of the title if he refused to compete.
The turning point came in the closing stages when Allin’s risk-heavy offence shifted momentum. His pace and high-impact moves disrupted MJF’s control and gradually turned the crowd in his favour. Separately, Darby Allin reportedly reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 18 last year, according to expedition dispatch updates linked to his climbing team. The ascent was completed with Adventure Consultants alongside experienced Sherpa climbers, with reports noting heavy traffic before the summit was reached.
During the expedition, Allin also performed a skateboard kickflip at approximately 20,958 feet, widely reported across sports media as the highest documented elevation kickflip. AEW later issued a brief congratulatory statement on social media. If confirmed by official mountaineering records, the feat would mark a rare crossover between professional wrestling and high-altitude mountaineering.
