BNP will begin interviews for nomination seekers for the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament starting Friday.

Party Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the schedule at a press briefing held at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday.

According to the announcement, the interviews will take place at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office from 3pm on both Friday and Saturday.

Candidates from Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal and Faridpur divisions are scheduled to appear on Friday, while aspirants from Dhaka, Chattogram, Cumilla, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions will be interviewed on Saturday.

Rizvi said a large number of aspirants have submitted nomination forms for the reserved women’s seats, necessitating the interview process.

More than 600 aspirants have reportedly collected nomination forms.

The BNP nomination board, led by party Chairman Tarique Rahman, will conduct the interviews in the presence of members of the party’s standing committee.

BNP sold party nomination forms from 10 to 12 April, during which more than a thousand forms were both sold and submitted.

The price of each form was set at Tk 2,000, while each aspirant deposited Tk 50,000 as a security deposit at the time of submission.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has already announced the schedule for the reserved women’s seats election.

The deadline for submission of nomination papers is 21 April, with scrutiny set for 22 and 23 April. Appeals can be filed on 26 April, and hearings will be held between 27 and 28 April.

Election symbols will be allotted on 30 April while voting is scheduled for 12 May.
