BYD Bangladesh planted more than 500 trees at Sunvalley Grand Circle in Dhaka on Saturday as part of its Green Drive initiative.
The tree plantation programme, organised in collaboration with Sunvalley Community from 3pm to 5pm, marked the conclusion of the company’s month-long campaign launched in September.
Under the tagline “Drive Today. Grow Tomorrow,” the campaign pledged to plant one tree for every test drive taken at BYD outlets during September. According to the company, the campaign resulted in the planting of more than 500 trees.
The programme was attended by Ketsu Zhang, deputy general manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division; Hafizur Rahman Khan, chairman of CG Runner BD Ltd; and Amid Sakif Khan, managing director of CG Runner BD Ltd.
Speaking at the event, Zhang said Bangladesh was an important market for BYD, with considerable potential for the development of the new energy vehicle (NEV) ecosystem.

He said the company’s presence in the country was not limited to vehicle sales, adding that it also aimed to contribute to the development of the NEV sector and the communities where it operates.
Amid Sakif Khan said sustainability extended beyond vehicles and that the Green Drive initiative sought to encourage people to recognize the collective impact of small, responsible actions.
He added that the initiative’s impact should not be measured solely by the number of trees planted, but also by its role in raising awareness about environmental responsibility.
The initiative is aligned with BYD’s stated global vision to “Cool the Earth by 1°C.” The company said it planned to continue the Green Drive initiative in Bangladesh over the long term.
