Expatriate workers hoping to return to their jobs in Saudi Arabia gathered at Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ Balaka headquarters on Tuesday amid uncertainty over flights, seeking alternative travel arrangements via Medina.
They complained that the limited number of available tickets was far below demand, leaving many unable to secure seats even on alternative routes.
A crowd formed outside the ticket counter as workers began arriving early in the morning in an effort to return to their workplaces in Saudi Arabia.
With direct travel options disrupted, many are now trying to reach Saudi Arabia via Medina.
However, visits to the ticket counter have done little to ease their concerns, as uncertainty over ticket availability persists.
Passengers said they remain worried about when they will be able to travel, spending much of their time searching for tickets and waiting for updates.
So far, 61 direct and transit flights have been cancelled, leaving more than 9,000 passengers facing uncertainty and disruption.
