The Tk3 crore looted at gunpoint from a bKash distribution agent’s vehicle in Gazipur remains unrecovered, with no suspects arrested yet, while a separate violent late-night raid on a residential home in Chattogram left three members of the same family seriously injured.

The Gazipur robbery occurred on Friday around 6:30pm in the Kornopur area along the Sreepur-Gosinga regional road.

According to police and company accounts, a private car belonging to the mobile financial services agent “Bhaluka Channel Enterprise” was transporting three plastic sacks of money from Narsingdi when it was intercepted in a gajari forest area by a gang of criminals riding 10 to 12 motorcycles.

The assailants opened fire on the vehicle, injuring the accounts officer, Himel, who sustained a gunshot wound.

The driver, Lal Mia, and area manager, Farhad, were also injured during the ensuing struggle before the attackers fled with two sacks of money.

Wounded accounts officer Himel was initially given first aid at Sreepur Upazila Health Complex and subsequently transferred to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.

Emergency physician Dr Anik Sarkar confirmed his transfer for advanced medical care.

Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahinur Ahmed stated that joint operations by police and intelligence agencies, utilising CCTV footage from the scene and surrounding areas, are underway to track down the culprits and recover the stolen cash.

As of Saturday evening, no formal case had been filed in connection with the incident, though legal proceedings were underway.

Meanwhile, in Chattogram, a violent home invasion late Thursday night in the Luser Baper Tila area of Sarfabhata Union of Rangunia, has left three members of a single family hospitalised with shotgun pellet injuries and deep lacerations from sharp weapons.

A group of masked, armed assailants broke into the home of Jamir Ali Talukdar, demanding Tk5 lakh.

When the demand was not met, the intruders ransacked the house, assaulted two young children, three-year-old Mohammad and five-year-old Muhammad Rakib, and unleashed a brutal attack on the adult family members.

The victims include Md Golap, 45, who suffered a shotgun wound to his right hand and a severe blow from a Chinese axe; his 14-year-old son, Asif, who sustained wrist injuries; and Golap’s elder brother, Mohammad Syed ,55.

Two of the victims are receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), while the other is being treated at the Upazila Health Complex.

According to Golap’s wife, Halima Begum, the attackers also looted cash, mobile phones, and gold jewellery before fleeing.

The terrified family initially kept the incident secret out of fear of the local criminal gang. The attack came to light late Friday night when police visited the scene after receiving information from local residents.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) for the Rangunia Circle, Belayet Hossain, inspected the location and noted that the motive remains unclear, adding that the family had been advised to file a case but had been delayed due to medical emergencies.

South Rangunia Police Station OC Md Hilal Uddin confirmed that three individuals had suffered shotgun and sharp-weapon injuries, and while no formal case had been lodged by Saturday afternoon, efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators are ongoing.
