Md Saifuddin joins BSEC as commissioner

Chartered Financial Analyst Md Saifuddin has officially joined the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) as a Commissioner on Thursday. His appointment, for a four-year term, follows a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance’s Financial Institutions Division on 29 July.

The joining ceremony was held at the BSEC meeting room, attended by BSEC Chairman Khondker Rashed Maqsood, fellow Commissioners, and senior officials. During the event, BSEC Chairman Khondker Rashed Maqsood welcomed Saifuddin and expressed confidence that Saifuddin’s extensive experience in the capital market would lead to positive outcomes for both BSEC and the securities market.

Saifuddin emphasized the importance of implementing positive reforms in the capital market and its structure. He also called for joint professional efforts to improve the sector and stressed the need to present BSEC’s activities positively to investors and other stakeholders.

Saifuddin has had a distinguished career in the brokerage industry, starting at IDLC Finance in 2001. From 2009, he served as Managing Director of IDLC Securities, the brokerage subsidiary of IDLC Finance. He also held the role of Senior Vice-President of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Brokers Association.

Saifuddin holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Finance and Banking from Rajshahi University, and an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Society Bangladesh.
