Bangladesh A coach Mizanur Rahman Babul believes Saif Hassan is on the right track to rediscovering the form that made him one of Bangladesh’s brightest T20 batting prospects.
Saif burst onto the scene with an impressive 2025 Asia Cup campaign, emerging as Bangladesh’s most consistent batter in the tournament. The right-hander scored 178 runs in four matches at an average of 44.50 and a strike rate of 128.05, including two half-centuries, to strengthen his claim for a regular place in the national T20 side.
His form, however, dipped in the months that followed. Regularly switching between ODI and T20 cricket appeared to affect his rhythm, with the attacking approach that defined his Asia Cup performances becoming less consistent.
Saif is currently part of Bangladesh A’s training camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, where the coaching staff have worked closely with him ahead of upcoming assignments.
Speaking after Wednesday’s training session, Babul said fluctuations in form were common for players who regularly moved between formats.
“Players cannot perform at the same level all the time. Those who play a lot of matches, especially across different formats, can sometimes lose touch with certain skills. T20 cricket demands a higher strike rate, and that can affect the balance of a player’s conventional batting. We have addressed those areas, and Saif has adapted very quickly. He has been batting really well in the nets.”
Babul said the coaches had analysed Saif’s recent performances before focusing on the areas that needed improvement.
“We have addressed those weak areas. I have personally tried to watch every ball of the national team’s matches because we work with these players regularly. We are identifying those issues and moving forward accordingly.”
The Bangladesh A coach believes the additional work at the Mirpur camp will help Saif regain his confidence and consistency as he looks to force his way back into Bangladesh’s T20 plans.
