Police have arrested six leaders of Natun Dhara Bangladesh, including its Chairman Momin Mehedi and Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farzana.
Shahbagh Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) Md Moniruzzaman confirmed the arrests Wednesday afternoon.
The others arrested are the party’s Vice Chairman Nurjahan Neera, Joint General Secretary Monir Zaman, and Organising Secretaries Atap Mandal and Haridas Sarker.
The arrests took place after the leaders reportedly besieged the DMCH emergency department for nearly three hours following clashes between their organisation and the SDF.
The police action followed a case filed Tuesday night by a person named Babul Sarker. The First Information Report (FIR) names the six leaders and includes 50 to 60 unidentified people as accused.
According to the case statement, the accused were allegedly involved in anti‑government activities, provocative slogans, and an anti‑state conspiracy during a procession held in front of the Jatiya Press Club around 7pm Tuesday.
The complainant, Babul Sarker, alleged that when he and Al Nur Mohammad Ayas, the member secretary of the State Dialogue Forum (SDF), along with several other members protested against the slogans, the accused persons launched an attack.
The assailants reportedly used local weapons, sticks, chairs, and hockey sticks.
