Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana will take its first major step onto the global stage when its theatrical trailer premieres at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026 before its release in India. The presentation will feature producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. The film has remained one of India’s most anticipated projects since its announcement. Following criticism of its first glimpse for its visual effects, the upcoming trailer is expected to offer a more detailed look at the film’s scale and storytelling.
According to Hindustan Times, the makers have confirmed that the theatrical trailer will be released worldwide on 24 July. In an official announcement, they said: “FROM BHARAT TO THE WORLD. For thousands of years, the Ramayana has inspired generations through its timeless ideals of dharma, maryada, courage and compassion. Now, it begins a new journey. One of Bharat’s greatest civilisational epics, presented to the world at a scale never attempted before in Indian cinema. THE RAMAYANA TRAILER PREMIERES WORLDWIDE ON 24TH JULY.”
The first teaser introduced Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and offered glimpses of Ayodhya and Lanka. It also featured Ravi Dubey as Lord Lakshman, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita and Yash as Ravana. While the teaser received criticism from a section of viewers over its visual effects, the new trailer marks a key stage in the film’s promotional campaign. Earlier reports had suggested a 18 July release, but the makers have now confirmed 24 July as the official date.
The SDCC panel is scheduled for 23 July 2026 at 3:15 pm PDT (3:15 am IST on 24 July) in Ballroom 20, the convention’s second-largest venue with a seating capacity of about 4,800. The official SDCC listing describes the story as: “In an age of gods and kings, the fate of worlds hangs in the balance. Rama, a prince bound by duty, sacrifice, and the greater good, must face Ravana, an immortal ruler driven by pride and vengeance, powerful enough to shatter the cosmos.”
The makers have also launched a nationwide school outreach campaign under the theme “Hamara Satya. Hamara Itihaas.” Beginning on 9 July, the initiative will cover more than 400 schools across 18 cities and is expected to reach over 500,000 students. Children will take part in drawing competitions, quizzes, creative activities and interactive discussions designed to help them connect with the values and stories of the Ramayana alongside their families.
Speaking about the initiative, the makers said the epic has survived through generations because of its stories, values and shared memories. They added that the campaign aims to help young audiences experience the Ramayana not only as mythology but also as a story of courage, duty, love and righteousness.
Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana also stars Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh and others in key roles. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film will be released in two parts, with the first arriving during Diwali 2026 and the second during Diwali 2027.
