Adviser to the Honorable Prime Minister on Finance and Planning Affairs, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir made purchases using Bangla QR at Indira Road in Dhaka on 04 July 2026 to promote cashless transactions and raise public awareness, according to a press release. The transactions were executed through Dutch-Bangla Bank apps NexusPay and Rocket, which support instant payments via Bangla QR.
The demonstration was part of broader efforts aligned with the government’s vision of building a ‘Cashless Bangladesh’, with Dutch-Bangla Bank expanding promotional and awareness activities nationwide to encourage adoption among consumers and merchants. The initiative highlights ongoing collaboration between policymakers, the central bank and commercial banks to accelerate digital payment usage in retail environments.
The event was attended by Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan, Managing Director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank, and Arif Hossain Khan, Spokesperson and Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, alongside officials from both organisations.
Dutch-Bangla Bank said it has been conducting sustained promotional campaigns across the country under the guidance of its board of directors to increase familiarity and usage of Bangla QR payment systems.
The bank emphasised that its mobile banking platforms NexusPay and Rocket enable real-time, cashless transactions through QR code scanning, supporting merchants and customers in transitioning away from cash-based payments.
The initiative forms part of a wider national push to strengthen digital financial inclusion and improve payment efficiency across the economy.
