French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet has announced a new edition of “Ambassador’s Prize” aimed at three students from Institutes of Modern Languages (IMLs) in Dhaka and Chattogram.

The awards are designed to recognise students based on their personal motivation and genuine interest in the French language.

According to the announcement, two students will be granted a free course at Alliance Française, while the first-prize winner will receive an intensive French language course in France, scheduled for August 2026.

The announcement follows his recent visit to Institute of Modern Languages (IML) at the University of Dhaka, where he interacted with both faculty members and students.

“I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the French department and speaking with both the teachers and the students. The French Embassy and its entire team are here to listen to you, and we stand ready to support you within the limits of our means,” the ambassador said.

Highlighting the global nature of the language, the envoy added, “It is always a pleasure to discover that the French language is not confined to the borders of France. La Francophonie is a large family, bringing together passionate and curious minds from across the globe”.

Ambassador Séré-Charlet encouraged the students to immerse themselves in the culture by reading French books and newspapers, watching French films, and listening to French radio.

He emphasised that learning a language is inseparable from cultural discovery and urged students to combine the two in their studies.
