Trust Bank PLC has launched a strategic partnership with Water.org to mobilise Tk350 crore in financing for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives across Bangladesh.
Under the partnership, Trust Bank PLC will dedicate funds to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and microfinance institutions operating in the water and sanitation sector. The initiative aims to enhance public health, improve sanitation facilities, and contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.
The collaboration was officially launched on Sunday at a ceremony held at the Utshab Hall of Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka. The event was organised by the bank’s SME Division.
Trust Bank PLC Vice Chairman and Adjutant General of Bangladesh Army Major General Mohd Hossain Al Morshed attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Bangladesh Bank’s Director of the Sustainable Finance Department Chowdhury Liakat Ali also participated as a special guest. In his speech, Ali highlighted Bangladesh Bank’s ongoing commitment to advancing green and sustainable finance initiatives within the banking sector.
Managing Director and CEO of Trust Bank PLC Ahsan Zaman Chowdhury emphasised the importance of supporting WASH projects for the betterment of the community during his speech.
The event included an agreement signing ceremony, memento exchange, and concluded with a networking dinner. Senior officials from Trust Bank PLC, representatives from Water.org Bangladesh, and other financial and development sector professionals attended the event.
