Bangladesh has launched a five-day specialised civil aviation training programme for 25 Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism officials, aiming to give policymakers and administrators an integrated understanding of the sector and strengthen co-ordination and decision-making.
The “Indoctrination Training on Civil Aviation”, organised by the Civil Aviation Academy, began on 18 September at Conference Room No 415 of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). The organisers said in a press release that it was the first such programme arranged in Bangladesh for ministry officials.
The course covers the structure and operations of Bangladesh’s civil aviation system, CAAB’s duties and functions, airport operations, flight safety, aviation security and air navigation services.
Participants will also receive training on national and international aviation regulations, International Civil Aviation Organization standards and the roles and relationships of different stakeholders in the aviation sector.
The programme is expected to give participants an integrated understanding of civil aviation operations, security, management and international standards, helping strengthen policymaking, administrative work, inter-institutional co-ordination and faster, more effective decision-making, according to the release.
Similar training programmes are offered in various countries, but the organisers said this was the first time such training had been arranged specifically for ministry officials in Bangladesh.
Civil Aviation Academy Director Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty delivered the welcome address at the opening ceremony.
CA Wing Joint Secretary Md Zulkar Nayan attended as special guest, while CAAB Member for Flight Standards and Regulations Air Commodore Md Monirul Islam, afwc, psc, GD(P), attended as chief guest.
Also present were Deputy Secretary Dr Md Golam Kabir, Deputy Secretary Mohammad Mahabub Alam, Deputy Secretary Md Nurul Huda, Minister’s Private Secretary and Deputy Secretary Md Sohel Parvez, Senior Assistant Secretary Asfia Sirat and Minister’s Office Public Relations Officer Tariqul Islam, along with other officials concerned.
Chakraborty said the training would give ministry officials an integrated understanding of the aviation sector’s structure and operations.
Nayan said the programme would make officials’ knowledge and co-ordination more effective in aviation-related policymaking and decision-making.
Monirul said integrated knowledge and effective co-operation among all relevant parties were essential to ensure safety and international standards in the aviation sector.
The training is being held on 18–19 September, 25–26 September and 2 October and will conclude on 2 October.
