The High Court has granted bail to former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor in two murder cases filed with Mirpur and Ramna police stations in the capital, dated 16 September 2024.
A High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher issued the order on Sunday.
Advocate ZI Khan Panna represented Noor during the bail hearing, while Deputy Attorney General Shaila Sharmin and Assistant Attorney General Md Alamin appeared for the state.
Noor was arrested from Bailey Road in Dhaka on the night of 15 September 2024. The following day, the court ordered his remand in connection with a murder case filed at Mirpur police station.
According to the case files, the murder charge stems from an incident on 18 July 2024, when 17-year-old Siam Sardar was allegedly killed in Mirpur.
On 12 September 2024, Siam’s father, Soha Sardar, filed a case against 114 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing them of involvement in the murder. Asaduzzaman Noor was named as an accused in this case, as well as in a separate murder case filed at Ramna police station.
