Spencer A Fowler, principal of Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPCUWC), will arrive in Dhaka Sunday night for a two‑day visit aimed at deepening collaboration with Bangladesh’s education sector.
During his stay, Fowler will meet senior government officials, academics, parents of Bangladeshi students, and members of the LPCUWC alumni association.
He will share insights into the college’s distinctive International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), which brings together more than 250 students from over 90 countries in a fully residential, intercultural learning environment.
Fowler said, “The IBDP is widely respected by leading universities globally for its academic rigour and its emphasis on developing intellectually curious, socially responsible young people.”
He added, “My visit to Dhaka reflects our commitment to engaging with education stakeholders in Bangladesh, a country with a rich talent pool and ambitious educational vision.”
LPCUWC, established in 1992 as the second United World College in Asia, offers scholarships based on merit and financial need, with more than half of its students receiving financial support.
Fowler encouraged Bangladeshi students to connect with the UWC Bangladesh National Committee to access these opportunities.
Situated near Ma On Shan Country Park in Wu Kai Sha, Hong Kong, LPCUWC combines academic study with community engagement and initiatives such as “Project Week” service trips.
As one of 18 UWC institutions worldwide, it shares a mission to unite people, nations, and cultures through education for peace and sustainability.
Fowler expressed strong interest in partnerships with Bangladeshi institutions, saying such collaboration could create pathways for outstanding students and foster meaningful cross‑cultural exchanges.
