The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has expanded the pilot phase of its mobile application-based ‘Fuel Pass’ system to 18 petrol pumps in Dhaka and extended registration facilities to selected districts and metropolitan areas outside the capital as part of efforts to improve transparency and discipline in fuel distribution.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Saturday, the ministry said the expanded pilot rollout commenced the same day.
It further announced that motorcycle users in several districts and metropolitan areas outside Dhaka will now be eligible for registration under the system.
The newly included areas are Dhaka Metro, Chandpur, Chattogram, Chattogram Metro, Barishal, Barishal Metro, Khulna, Khulna Metro, Rajshahi, Rajshahi Metro, and Mymensingh. Registered motorcycles in these regions will be brought under the ‘Fuel Pass BD’ registration framework.
The ministry said the initiative will be gradually expanded to other districts across the country in phases.
However, it did not disclose the names or locations of the 18 petrol pumps in Dhaka included in the current pilot expansion.
Authorities thanked stakeholders for their cooperation in implementing the system and urged users to join the official Fuel Pass Facebook group to submit feedback, complaints, and suggestions.
Earlier on 9 April, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division said the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) had launched the QR code-based ‘Fuel Pass’ application on a pilot basis for motorcycle users.
The initiative aims to modernise fuel supply management, enhance transparency, and bring discipline to filling stations, with plans for nationwide rollout across all vehicle categories following successful testing.
