Kanye West has postponed a planned concert in Marseille, France, saying the show will be delayed “until further notice”, just days after his UK festival appearance was cancelled.

The announcement follows the cancellation of his scheduled headline slot at London’s Wireless Festival, after the UK government reportedly blocked the rapper, now known as Ye, from entering the country.

French media reported that Interior Minister Laurent Nunez had been considering a ban on the 11 June Marseille show. An unnamed source close to the minister was quoted as saying he was “highly determined” to prevent the performance.

In a post on X, West said the decision to postpone the concert was his own. “After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,” he wrote.

He added that he wanted to avoid placing fans “in the middle” of ongoing issues and said he was focused on making amends and preparing for future shows.

West has faced sustained controversy in recent years over antisemitic, racist and pro-Nazi remarks, which have previously led to widespread backlash and professional consequences.

Despite the Marseille postponement, his official tour schedule still lists planned shows across Europe and India in the coming months, including dates in Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal and New Delhi, although some remain unconfirmed.

In January, West published a statement in the Wall Street Journal saying he was not antisemitic and expressing regret for past actions, also referencing struggles with bipolar disorder.

The rapper has also recently been named in a US lawsuit alleging assault at a Los Angeles hotel in 2023, which he has not publicly addressed in detail.
