The National Citizen Party (NCP) organised a Rangpur divisional Iftar and prayer gathering at the Shaheed Abu Saeed Stadium in Rangpur.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Md Nahid Islam said, “Tomorrow, the new parliamentary session will begin. People across the country are looking towards parliament. We hope that the ruling party MPs will take oath for the Constitution Reform Council. The president will be removed. If this does not happen, all of you must speak up from your respective positions. These are not just demands of our party. These are demands of the new Bangladesh. For this, everyone must speak up regardless of party affiliation.”
Expressing the desire to see an effective parliament, Nahid Islam said, “We want to see an effective parliament. We hope that the opposition will be given the opportunity to speak. All commitments will be upheld.”
Remembering Abu Sayeed, who initiated the uprising across the country, Nahid Islam said, “There will be no discrimination against the Rangpur division in the days ahead.”
Special guests at the event included NCP member secretary and MP from the Rangpur-4 constituency, Akhter Hossen, Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, NCP MP from the two Kurigram constituencies, Atik Mujahid, National Jubo Shakti Convener Advocate Tarikul Islam, along with central and Rangpur divisional leaders.
Also present at the event were Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Rangpur Metropolitan Member Secretary Advocate Mahfuz Un Nabi, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur Metropolitan Secretary General KM Anwarul Islam Kajol, and Rangpur divisional leaders of the eleven-party alliance.
