A 19-year-old housewife named Nishi Akter has been strangled to death at a tin-shed residence in Roads and Highways Quarter in Tejgaon of Dhaka. Her husband, Abdullah Al Mamun Sagar, has been absconding since the incident.
Police recovered the body of Nishi Akter from the tin-shed house at Roads and Highways Quarter around 2pm on Tuesday. They subsequently sent the body to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Hamid Sarkar of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station said police recovered the body from the quarter on Tuesday noon after being notified through National Emergency Service 999.
SI further informed that Nishi’s village home was in North Matlab Upazila under Chandpur district, and her father’s name is Md Khokon Miah.
Nishi resided in the quarter with her husband Abdullah Al Mamun Sagar and their four-year-old child. Her husband Sagar is a drug addict.
Sometime during Monday night, following a domestic dispute, Sagar strangled Nishi to death and subsequently fled. Police efforts are currently underway to arrest him.
