Dhaka Metropolitan Police traffic units filed 1,097 cases against traffic law violators across the capital on Sunday as part of routine enforcement drives.
The information came in a press release issued on Monday. DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman PPM confirmed the matter.
According to DMP traffic sources, Ramna Traffic Division filed 40 cases, including violations involving five buses, two trucks, seven covered vans, eight CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 18 motorcycles.
Lalbagh Traffic Division recorded 136 cases, involving three buses, eight trucks, 13 CNG auto-rickshaws and 99 motorcycles.
Motijheel Traffic Division filed 165 cases, including six buses, six covered vans, 37 CNG auto-rickshaws and 100 motorcycles.
Wari Traffic Division recorded 47 cases involving four buses, 13 trucks, 10 covered vans, two CNG auto-rickshaws and 11 motorcycles.
In Tejgaon Traffic Division, police filed 144 cases against five buses, two trucks, six covered vans, 19 CNG auto-rickshaws and 67 motorcycles.
Mirpur Traffic Division registered 182 cases, involving one bus, two trucks, 12 covered vans, 14 CNG auto-rickshaws and 123 motorcycles.
Uttara Traffic Division filed 158 cases, including five buses, four trucks, nine covered vans, 30 CNG auto-rickshaws and 48 motorcycles.
Gulshan Traffic Division recorded 185 cases against seven buses, two trucks, six covered vans, five CNG auto-rickshaws and 68 motorcycles.
Police also confirmed that 384 vehicles were dumped and 141 vehicles were towed away during the drives.
DMP Traffic Division said it would continue regular operations across the Dhaka metropolitan area to maintain traffic discipline and ensure road safety.
