NCP has announced candidates for the remaining three constituencies, completing its list for all 30 seats allocated to the party under the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 10-party alliance’s seat-sharing arrangement.
NCP Media Cell Chief Mahbub Alam confirmed the development to the media on Tuesday.
The newly announced candidates are Fahim Pathan for Netrokona-2, Pritom Dash for Moulvibazar-4, and Jamil Hijazi for Rajbari-2.
Earlier, on Sunday, the party released a list of candidates for 27 constituencies through its verified Facebook page, accompanied by campaign posters urging voters to support NCP nominees under the party’s electoral symbol, ‘Shapla Koli’ (Water lily bud).
Several senior party leaders are among the candidates. NCP Convener Nahid Islam is contesting from Dhaka-11, while Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain is running from Rangpur-4.
Southern Region Chief Organiser Hasnat Abdullah is contesting from Cumilla-4, Northern Region Chief Organiser Sargis Alam from Panchagarh-1, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari from Dhaka-8, and Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud from Noakhali-6.
Other NCP candidates include Jabed Rasin (Dhaka-9), Ariful Islam Adib (Dhaka-18), Dilshana Parul (Dhaka-19), Nabila Tasnid (Dhaka-20), Abdullah Al Amin (Narayanganj-4), Majedul Islam (Munshiganj-2), Mahbub Alam (Lakshmipur-1), SM Saif Mostafiz (Sirajganj-6), Sarwar Tushar (Narsingdi-2), SM Suja Uddin (Bandarban), Jobairul Hasan Arif (Chattogram-8), Maulana Ashraf Mahdi (Brahmanbaria-2), Mohammad Ataullah (Brahmanbaria-3), Md Abdul Ahad (Dinajpur-5), Sultan Muhammad Zakaria (Noakhali-2), Atik Mujahid (Kurigram-2), Zahidul Islam (Mymensingh-11), Saifullah Haider (Tangail-3), Ali Naser Khan (Gazipur-2), Shamim Hamidi (Pirojpur-3), and SM Jarjis Qadir (Natore-3).
All candidates will contest using the ‘Shapla Koli’ symbol.
Earlier, the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance announced a seat-sharing arrangement covering 253 parliamentary constituencies.
Islami Andolan Bangladesh, which was initially expected to join the alliance, later withdrew and decided to contest independently in 268 constituencies, while pledging support for other candidates in 32 seats.
As an alliance partner, the NCP is contesting in 30 constituencies, although it had submitted nomination papers for 47 candidates.
Following Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s withdrawal, the NCP held talks with Jamaat-e-Islami seeking additional seats, but the final allocation remained unchanged.
