In Sylhet on Sunday, Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed said the growing involvement of Bangladeshi players in overseas T20 leagues is already proving valuable and will have a positive impact on the national side in the years ahead.
Several Bangladesh cricketers have featured in foreign leagues this year. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman played in the ILT20 earlier this month before returning to join the Bangladesh Premier League, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain continues to represent his franchise in the Big Bash League.
Speaking to reporters, Taskin reflected positively on the experience of playing abroad for the first time.
“There’s really no end to improvement,” he said. “Alhamdulillah, things have gone well. I played in the ILT20 for the first time and there were three Bangladeshi players there. Rishad is also playing in the Big Bash. It’s been a very good experience for all of us.”
Taskin believes Mustafizur’s strong form and Rishad’s steady rise are encouraging signs for Bangladesh’s future.
“Mustafizur has done really well, mashallah. I did reasonably well, and Rishad is also performing,” he said. “These things will definitely help us going forward.”
Beyond performances, Taskin highlighted the exposure to different cricketing cultures and professional environments as a key benefit of overseas leagues.
“The culture and professionalism were excellent over there in the ILT20,” he said. “What we’ve learned from those environments will help us in our cricket.”
Taskin is confident the lessons gained will not remain at an individual level but will feed into the national team as a whole.
“I’m sure what Mustafizur learned, what Rishad learned, and what I learned will influence the Bangladesh team in the future,” he said. “Even if it’s a small amount, even five per cent improvement, that will still make a difference.”
