Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed World Teachers’ Day 2026 on 5 October, honouring educators and highlighting their role in shaping students, society and future generations at a programme held at the cafeteria of the Martyr Tahmid Abdullah Building on the university campus.

The event, held under the theme “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status, and shaping our futures,” brought together university academics to recognise teachers’ contributions to education, mentorship and student development, BUBT said in a press release.

Professor Dr Syed Muhammad Abul Faiz, former vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka and former chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, attended as chief guest.

Faiz highlighted teachers’ role in advancing education, nurturing young minds and strengthening the values and knowledge needed to build a better society.

The programme was chaired by Professor Dr A B M Shawkat Ali, Vice-Chancellor of BUBT.

Ali said teachers’ contributions extend beyond imparting knowledge, with their guidance, mentorship and inspiration helping students develop confidence, values and a sense of purpose.

Professor Dr Syed Masud Husain, Dean of the Faculty of Business & Economics at BUBT, received a special honour in recognition of his contribution to the teaching profession.

The programme also highlighted the contribution of BUBT teachers, saying their knowledge, mentorship and commitment help students pursue their academic and personal goals and contribute to developing capable, responsible and future-ready generations.

Through the observance, BUBT reaffirmed its respect and gratitude for teachers and highlighted the enduring importance of the profession in shaping individuals, communities and society.
