The admission test for the first-year undergraduate programs of the Arts, Law, and Social Sciences Unit of Dhaka University for the 2025-2026 academic session was held today, 13 December 2025, in a smooth and peaceful manner.
A total of 107,701 candidates participated in the examination, competing for 2,934 seats in the unit. Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, visited the exam center at the Faculty of Social Sciences building, read a press release.
Along with the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Sayma Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Coordinator of the Arts, Law, and Social Sciences Unit admission test and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Taiyabur Rahman, and Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed were also present during the visit.
After inspecting the exam center, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan said, “The admission test has been conducted in a very orderly, peaceful, and disciplined environment. For each seat, nearly 39 candidates participated.
“This is a highly competitive examination.”
He urged parents not to put undue mental pressure on their children regarding the admission test, emphasising, “Getting admitted does not mean the end of one’s life journey. Every student has unique potential, and it should be nurtured and given the opportunity to shine.”
It is worth noting that the admission test was held at public university centers in Dhaka as well as in seven divisional cities outside the capital – Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barisal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, and Begum Rokeya University.
