Different species of saplings have been planted at various locations on the Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) campus under a tree plantation programme organised by Tangail Conscious Citizens Forum.
The programme was held on Tuesday, said a press release.
The initiative was taken to protect environmental balance and increase campus greenery, according to the organisers.
MBSTU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Md Anisur Rahman attended as chief guest. He said the world is facing an ecological crisis and that humanity will be at risk if balance is not restored through tree plantation and welcomed the forum’s efforts to build a “Green Tangail”.
Tangail Conscious Citizens Forum President Akibbur Rahman Iqbal presided over the programme.
He said trees are nature and have kept people alive, so trees must also be protected. He said one of the organisation’s goals is “Clean Tangail, Green Tangail”, and that it is planting trees at educational institutions and raising public awareness.
Forum Adviser Monowar Mohammad attended as special guest.
MBSTU Estate Director Abu Zafar Shibli provided overall cooperation. Teachers, students, officers and employees of the university, along with forum members, attended the event.
