National University (NU) will create 900 master trainers to improve the teaching of Applied ICT course for honours second-year students at its affiliated colleges. Ninety core trainers will be prepared to train them. The curriculum and training materials have been validated, and preparations are underway to begin field-level training.
A coordination meeting on the matter was held on Monday at National University’s own campus in Gazipur, chaired by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Ali Zinnah, said a press release.
The meeting discussed the training rollout plan, training calendar and schedule, trainer selection, budget, training area determination and progress monitoring. Concept notes for “Applied ICT Master Trainer” and “In-House Teacher Training” were also discussed.
The training will be conducted through a blended learning model. Core and master trainers will complete online courses before attending five-day in-person training.
In the first year, 90 core trainers and 840 master trainers have already been created. Nearly 2,000 teachers have been trained through in-house training. There are plans to bring another 2,500 teachers under training in phases.
The meeting discussed the potential budget for in-house training, the final list of core and master trainers and the selection of participating teachers. Determining different zones and mapping areas for smooth operation of training also received emphasis.
