Police have recovered the hanging body of a schoolgirl from a house in Moulvibazar town on Wednesday night.
Preliminary investigations suggest that she might have committed suicide.
The deceased was identified as Habiba Begum, 15, was an eighth-grade student of Ali Amzad Government Girls’ High School.
She was the daughter of Jahangir Mia from Rangamati district.
According to police, the incident took place around 10pm at a rented house in the Berirchar area of the town.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Mahbubur Rahman of Moulvibazar Model Police Station confirmed the matter, saying police recovered the hanging body after being informed.
“The reason behind the suicide is yet to be determined. The body has been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further details will be known after the post-mortem,” the OC added.
