A fire broke out at Medda Bazar in Brahmanbaria municipality early Wednesday, reducing eleven shops to ashes.
According to local sources, the fire started around 3:30am and quickly spread to nearby establishments. The affected shops included a salon, clothing stores, a betel shop, a pharmacy, and footwear stores.
On information, firefighters rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control after nearly an hour of effort.
Municipal councillor Sheikh Md Mahfuz and the affected traders said the fire caused losses amounting to around Tk 30 lakh.
Md Nazmul Alam, senior station officer of Brahmanbaria Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit. No casualties were reported in the incident.
