A 14-year-old student was rescued unconscious after being trapped inside a locked school toilet in Dhaka’s Postogola area on Thursday. The rescue was facilitated by a prompt response from National Emergency Service 999.
The student, identified as Nirob Biswas, a grade 7 student at Kutubkhali High School, had remained inside the toilet for an extended period with the door locked from inside.
The emergency came to light at 2:23pm on Thursday, 16 July 2026, when a caller named Nigar Sultana contacted the 999 service. She said the bathroom door had been shut for a long time and there was no response from the student inside.
The call was received by 999 Call Taker Constable Jannatul Shabnur, while 999 Fire Dispatcher Firefighter Md Hanzalal coordinated the emergency response. The 999 service immediately alerted Postogola Fire Service to initiate a swift rescue.
A rescue team from Postogola Fire Service arrived at the scene and broke open the door to find the boy unconscious. Sajedul Kabir Joardar, senior station officer of Postogola Fire Service, who led the rescue operation, confirmed the successful recovery of the student to the 999 service.
