Four people including a man and his son were killed and seven others injured in a clash between two groups over establishing dominance at Barkula village in Narail Sadar upazila early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Rahman Khalil, 60, his son Tahajjut Hossain, 30, Ferdous Hossain, 40, and Osibur Mia, 30.
Narail Sadar Police Station’s Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Oli Mia confirmed the incident, saying the clash erupted between two rival factions — the Khayer Group, supporters of the former Singasholpur union chairman, and the Khalil Group.
Police and local sources said a long-standing feud between Khayer and Khalil escalated into a confrontation involving weapons. Khalil, Tahajjut, and Ferdous died on the spot, while Osibur, critically injured, was taken to Narail Modern Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
OC Oli added, “Additional police have been deployed at the scene to keep the situation under control. Legal action regarding the incident is under process.”
