Jahangirnagar University (JU) branch Chhatra Dal has sent show-cause notices to 33 leaders and activists from various hall units of the organisation for allegedly being absent from a programme to besiege the Election Commission office.
In separate press releases signed by JU Chhatra Dal’s Office Secretary Abdullah Antor around midnight on Monday, leaders and activists from the 10 hall units were served show-cause notice.
The press release stated that a pre-announced important Chhatra Dal programme held on 18 and 19 January at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, where the presence of all leaders and activists was made mandatory.
However, despite holding important positions at the hall level, the concerned leaders did not participate in the program without any prior notification or permission.
Those served show-cause notices include the presidents, general secretaries, and other important post holders of Al Beruni Hall, Shaheed Salam Barkat Hall, National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall, Nawab Salimullah Hall, Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Hall, Shaheed Rafiq Jabbar Hall, Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall, Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq Hall, AFM Kamal Uddin Hall, and poet Rabindranath Tagore Hall.
The press release described the leaders’ absence as irresponsible, stating that such behavior is not only contrary to party discipline but also calls into question the minimum organizational accountability of a responsible leader.
The notice-receiving leaders and activists have been instructed to submit a clear and reasonable written explanation for their absence to the Office and Joint Office Secretary of JU Chhatra Dal within the next two working days.
