Farhaan Ali Wahid, Shamit Shome and midfielder Sohel Rana joined the Bangladesh squad in Indonesia on Tuesday as preparations intensified for the FIFA ASEAN Cup.
Farhaan joined the national team in Jakarta for the first time, while Shamit linked up with the squad at around 11am. Sohel also reached the team after overcoming a visa issue that had delayed his arrival.
Their arrivals follow Hamza Choudhury’s arrival in Jakarta on Monday, when the Sheffield United midfielder joined his team-mates and took part in an indoor gym session after reaching the team hotel.
Hamza trained in the second group alongside captain Jamal Bhuyan, Shekh Morsalin and Rakib Hossain.
The arrival of Farhaan and Shamit adds to a Bangladesh squad that includes three expatriate players receiving their maiden international call-ups. Farhaan, Zidane Alexander Yousuf and Shuki Itofusa are part of the 23-man squad selected for the tournament.
Bangladesh will hold their first full pitch training session on Tuesday afternoon under head coach Thomas Dooley.
The team are preparing for a demanding Group A schedule at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. Bangladesh will open against Malaysia on 25 September before facing Singapore on 28 September.
The group stage will conclude against hosts Indonesia on 1 October.
Shamit’s arrival came after weather delays in Japan forced a change to his flight schedule. He was initially expected to reach Indonesia on Tuesday morning.
With the latest arrivals now in Jakarta, Dooley can turn his attention towards preparing the squad for their opening match against Malaysia.
