Sazzad Hossain Hridoy, organisational secretary of Chhatra Dal’s Chittagong University (CU) unit, has been served with a show-cause notice for making a Facebook post in protest the hike in fuel prices.
The directive was issued on Monday through a press release signed by Office Secretary Md Jahangir Alam.
The instruction was given by central Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
Earlier at night, Hridoy posted on his verified Facebook profile expressing his stance against the price hikes of oil, gas, and electricity.
In his post, he wrote, “Since the beginning of my involvement in student politics, most of the BNP programmes I participated in were against the price hikes of oil, gas, and electricity. Today, the prices of fuel have been increased. I express my protest.”
Immediately after the post was published, the central Chhatra Dal served him with the show-cause notice.
According to the press statement, he was directed to appear in person at the central office of the organisation within 48 hours and submit a written explanation as to why permanent disciplinary action should not be taken against him on charges of breaching organisational discipline while holding a responsible position in CU unit.
