The government has officially recruited 3,263 medical officers into the health cadre following a special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, these entry-level officers were selected through the 48th BCS (Special) examination-2025.
The total recruitment comprises 2,984 assistant surgeons and 279 assistant dental surgeons, who will join the BCS (Health) cadre.
The newly appointed doctors and dentists are required to undergo basic training at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) or a government-approved training facility.
Following this, they will participate in professional service-oriented training at specific organisations determined by the government.
As per the official notification, the new recruits will serve as probation officers for a period of two years. This probationary term may be extended for an additional two years if deemed necessary.
The statement further clarified that if an officer is found unsuitable for continued service during this timeframe, they may be removed from their position after consultation with the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC).
