Bangladesh has recorded three more deaths from dengue while 411 patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), with the three fatalities, the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease has risen to 404 this year.
Among the new patients, 50 people admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 61 in Chattogram, 56 in Dhaka, 26 in Khulna, 20 Mymensingh, 21 in Rajshahi division (outside city corporations) , 99 Dhaka North City Corporation, 70 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Meanwhile, 464 dengue patients were discharged in the same 24-hour period. So far this year, a total of 97,653 patients have recovered and left hospitals.
As of 11 December this year, 99,493 people have been infected with dengue, with men accounting for 62.5 per cent of cases and women 37.5 per cent.
Last year 101,214 cases have been reported, resulting in 575 deaths. For comparison, in 2023, 1,705 people died from dengue, and 321,179 patients were admitted for treatment.
