Russian election infrastructure has been targeted by more than 1,000 waves of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks in recent days, according to the country’s electoral chief.
Ella Pamfilova, chair of Russia’s Central Election Commission, said on Sunday that more than 1,000 waves of DDoS attacks had been recorded against domestic infrastructure specifically involved in the electoral process over the past period, reports AFP.
Russian news agencies quoted Pamfilova in reports on the disruption.
DDoS attacks overwhelm a system with internet traffic, preventing it from operating normally.
