At least two people were killed and three others critically injured in a violent explosion while allegedly making cocktails in Charbagdanga Union, Chapainawabganj, early Saturday morning.

The blast occurred around 5am at the residence of Md Kalam, son of the late Mokbul Hossain, in Fata Para village, according to police reports.

Two victims died instantly, while Md Bazlur Rahman, 20, Md Minhaj, 22, and Md. Shuvo (20) sustained severe injuries.

The injured were initially taken to the 250-bed Chapainawabganj District Hospital.

Due to the severity of their injuries, they were referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Their condition remains critical.

Authorities said the identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed as their faces were unrecognizable after the blast.

Law enforcement has deployed additional police and Border Guard Bangladesh personnel in the area. The overall law and order situation is currently stable.

Additional Superintendent of Police ANM Wasim Firoz stated that preliminary investigations suggest the injured were involved in the preparation of cocktails. Legal proceedings are underway.
