A total of 122 candidates filed appeals with the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday, the second day of the appeal process, challenging returning officers’ decisions to accept or reject nomination papers for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The EC said the applications were submitted through its central appeal booth, bringing the total number of appeals filed over the first two days to 164.
On the first day, 42 candidates lodged appeals—one challenging the acceptance of a valid nomination and 41 seeking reinstatement after rejection.
According to the election schedule, 29 December was the final date for nomination submission, followed by scrutiny from 30 December to 4 January.
The appeal period will continue until 9 January, while hearings and decisions are scheduled between 10 and 18 January.
The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is 20 January. The final list of candidates, along with symbol allocation, will be published on 21 January. Campaigning will begin on 22 January and end at 7:30am on 10 February, with polling set for February 12.
