Twelve people were burned in a gas explosion at the canteen of JERA Meghna Ghat Power Plant in Sonargaon, Narayanganj.
They were admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
The accident occurred around 1pm on Wednesday.
The injured are Nazmul Sheikh, 40, Saiful Islam, 30, Ramizul, 45, Amir, 25, Shankar, 25, Kausar, 30, Tuhin Sheikh, 30, Monir Hossain, 45, Al Amin, 40, Osman Gani, 30, Supravat Ghosh, 42, and Badrul Haidar, 50.
Colleagues said officials and staff of the Meghna Ghat plant were having lunch at their canteen when the incident took place.
Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the burn institute, said that 12 patients arrived at noon. The extent of burns is being assessed, he added.
Fakhrul Islam, safety officer at the power plant, said among the injured, Amir, Shankar, Kausar and Al Amin were canteen boys, while the rest were officials of the plant.
He added that after cooking at noon, a gas stove was left on due to negligence. When someone lit a fire, the explosion may have occurred.
