Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said the government is working on reforming the SSC and HSC syllabus and examination methods to avoid session-jam for secondary and higher secondary students.
He made these remarks while speaking at a programme held at Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Milon said, “We are working to ensure that your 10 years of schooling to pass SSC remains 10 years, and you can complete your HSC exams within 12 years of starting your academic life.”
During the event, he inaugurated a 600-kilowatt peak (kWp) capacity on-grid OPEX model solar power project as part of an initiative to create a “Net Zero Campus”.
Milon added that significant changes are needed in the current curriculum to modernise the education system and the government plans to update the syllabus by prioritising science and technology-based education.
Principal of DRMC Brig Gen Mohammed Zaber Hossain said, “If the solar power project is implemented, electricity consumption will decrease by 30-35 percent. This project will serve as an exemplary model for the country’s educational institutions in terms of sustainable development and the use of renewable energy.”
Chaired by Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Abdul Khaleque, the event was also attended by Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, CEO of Omera Renewable Energy Masudur Rahim and others.
