A lawyer has filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the legality of Referendum 2026 and seeking cancellation of the declared results.
Supreme Court lawyer ABM Ataul Majid Touhid submitted the writ petition on Tuesday, citing public interest litigation.
Last Thursday, the referendum was held alongside the 13th parliamentary election. The results were announced the following day, where the “Yes” vote won by a large margin.
According to information provided by the Election Commission, 48,266,660 votes were cast in favour of “Yes,” while 22,071,726 votes were cast against constitutional reform.
